Just confirmed in 3.0 Labs Showcase.
If you try the "Single" example in the current showcase you can keep adding more files to the list. Setting the attribute multiple="false" seems to have no effect in IE 7 and seems to mess up the component in Firefox 4.
PF 3.0 - multiple="false" not working in new <p:fileUpload>

I don't have FF4 but worked fine on FF5?
IE doesn't support dragdrop and multi selection we can't do anything about that.

Single means you can select one file from file dialog.
To limit max file size, use fileLimit option.

On the current 3.0 Labs Showcase I start with "FileUpload", then click on "Single Upload".
Under IE 7 you can click the "+Choose" button as many times as you wish and keep adding more files to the list.
I don't have FF 4 on my workstation that has internet access, but on my internal workstation (that hosts my development environment) I am seeing similar behavior with FF 4 if I do not define the 'multiple' attribute at all.

I just installed FF 4 on a workstation with internet access here. FF 4 is completely non-functional in the 3.0 Labs Showcase using the "Single Upload" example. If I click on the "+Choose" button nothing happens.

Tested with FF4 worked fine and I don't think you've understood what single upload means, see me previous comment. It doesn't mean you can queue only one file, it means you can only select one file at a time from file browser.

I guess I didn't understand what "multiple" was supposed to do.
I still can't get Firefox 4.0.1 to work at all. I'm running it on Windows XP. When I click the "+Choose" button nothing happens. That machine also has IE 8 installed and it works fine. Another machine here with IE 7 and Windows XP also works fine.
