Developing custom primefaces components

After some researching, I was not able to find any properly documentation about developing custom components for primefaces. Does anyone knows where can I find some examples and docs or even the base code?

I cannot answer your question about documentation. Maybe the source code is a good place to start, and then search google for developing custom or composite JSF components.
