zindex, dialog and effects

I'm using <p:layout> and various dialogs with nice show and hide effects. However, as soon zindex is set to a layoutUnit the show end hide effects of the dialog don't work anymore.
JSF-2.0, mojarra-2.1 | PrimeFaces-3.0-M1 | GFv3.1 | NetBeans 7 | Ubuntu 11.04
