p:DataTable - filtering with drop down select - possible?

I love p:DataTable's sorting and filtering options.
Is it possible to use selectOneMenu instead of text field for filtering?

Not with current datatable but we'll make it happen in upcoming 2.2's datatable very soon. There is also an idea to make this built-in with filterOptions feature instead of manually placing a dropdown.

I believe it will have fixes for the filtering and soring on lazy dataTable as well, right?

Yes, lazy sorting/filtering/selection has a high priority. I'd suggest trying a nightly build after 15th of August probably we'll have something working by then and early feedback is much appreciated.
