Composite component not triggering commandbutton

Hello everybody,
I am very new with JSF and PrimeFaces and I found a problem that I could not solve, I would appreciate your help.
When I updated from PrimeFaces 3.5 to 5.1 I experienced problems with composite components containing <p:commandButton> elements. In the older version it works fine but with the newer one it seems like the event is not being triggered.
I was investigating and I read about this solutions:
1.-Use the attribute process="@this" on the commandbutton
2.-Use the @ViewScoped interface on the bean

I also read this post from stackoverflow:

But I cannot get this to work properly.
I am new to JSF and PrimeFaces so excuse me if the answer is already in that link and I cannot understand it.
