I have a costumer support chat webapp that is based on the p:poll component. When the user asks for support I update the page and render a panel with the queue position, that is updated every 5 seconds. If the attendant starts the conversation, I update the page to show the conversation controls. If the user doesn't reply for 10 minutes he is automatically disconnected. When the conversation is ended the user receives an email copy of it.

I received some complaints of some users that were disconnected, but didn't get to see the conversation controls, they were still on the queue. They know about about the disconnection because they received the email.

My best guess is that the p:poll for some reason stopped working.

I found this workaround: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2821 ... 2#28300332

Is it still necessary for PrimeFaces 5.3.x and 6.0.x?

Is there any way I can check if the poll component is working?

I'm already working on a web socket version of this webapp, but it will take some months until it is production ready, so for now I would need to fix this poll issue.

Thanks in advance
