Incell editing, data not changing

I've created a datatable with incell editing. When I edit the data in the row and click the check icon, the datatable is not updated to reflect the change.
I've copied the code in the showcase. Is there something missing in the showcase?

Also, When I edit the row, the highlighted colour causes some background colours on my page to change as well. What would be causing this?

Currently if there is a validation error then the edit mode simply switches back to view mode and value in view mode is not updated. This is discussed here:

As far as the style issue goes: maybe you have some components on your page that share a CSS class with the editable row style?

The dataTable has quite a few problems right now and there are many threads about dataTable issues. You might try searching the forum to see if you are encountering one of the known issues.
