Slide effect issue

Hello,

I have a web page that contains a panel and a button. When the button is clicked, a slide effect is triggered to hide the panel. The effect is working but the problem is that it's happening twice, meaning that, whenever i click the button, the panel is hidden, then redisplayed, and then hidden again. Is there any way I can fix this?

Can you post the code pls? I'm having trouble hiding and showing outputPanels via commandButtons. Any help is appreciated! thanks!

EDIT: I can do the hiding with rendered attribute and updating the view, but i would like to kno how to do it with effects.
