Calendar Vs DatePicker

Hi,
I was using primefaces calendar component, where I faced an issue of overlapping of placeholder. Instead I want to use datepicker, which worked fine but I have not found any conclusive difference between two component. Is there there any material for that? I saw date picker is part of showcase version 8, is it upgraded version of calendar? Please help on this.

Calendar is deprecated. Please use DatePicker.
