Yes, it is an issue with Oracle Mojarra introduced with 2.1, I bet MyFaces doesn't have this.
Cagatay, any news from Ed Burn? Who is responsible for this issue? I think Mojarra because it's not specified that most components have to be inherited from UIPanel and not from UIComponentBase. Is it not?

This is an embarrassing bug for Mojarra 2.1 (GlassFish 3.1). It pretty much makes the whole project stage thing worthless because you have to use Production to avoid having this annoying warning when you use composite components (a perfectly legitimate page such as a page with just a p:menubar inside an h:form still raises the warning).
Hmm... encountering code released as "Final", but with blatant regressions... what an unfamiliar experience

So it's not just us, good
By the way I've heard that RichFaces 4 doesn't have many of the components and features of 3.3, so compared to these, PrimeFaces is not bad at all, we can even call it rock solid with 3.0.

Yup, PrimeFaces isn't perfect, but is still the best choice for JSF 2.
That doesn't mean I'm not going to point out regressions and complain about them!

Nobody is perfect
Max Katz said, RichFaces is focusing on JSF 2 features and stability now and then coming many new components. I agree with stability (approved in many projects), but can't understand how long they're doing a porting to JSF 2. Nowadays people are already thinking about JSF 3 Regarding new components, there isn't competitor to PrimeFaces now. Number of PrimeFaces components kills everybody. Community needs now a little bit stability to keep on good reputation of PrimeFaces.

Insider news: next stop is new PrimeFaces Push based on Atmosphere and then bug fixing bug fixing bug fixing for 2 weeks until 11th of April (3.0.M1). M2 and RC1 will also focus on bug fixing, M1 focuses on new features. After 3.0 final, it will be mostly bug fixing, stability and quality.
Regarding RichFaces and IceFaces, I think the difference is a result of the motivation, we don't work on PrimeFaces for the paycheck at the end of month. We work on it because we love it. Simple. All the $$$ investment they receive can't buy passion right? Imagine what would happen if the investment for those projects stops? Does anyone remember Sun Woodstock or Infragistics Netadvantage JSF component suites?
So that is why I always say Always bet on PrimeFaces
