Primefaces schedule component and time

This is probably a rube question but when building a scheduler app around the primefaces schedule component when one clicks on a date area to create an event, the GUI time and time in the enter fields is off by -4 or -5 hours. That is if you click on say 9am, the text entering field displays the time as either 13:00 or 14:00. I've checked my timezone settings, the JVM correctly reports NYC. I've looked in the primefaces doc which I purchased to see if there was a setting for primefaces to calculate the offset but found no mention of an entry to make. ? Any ideas appreciated

Sounds like a conversion issue, maybe you can try setting javax.faces.DATETIMECONVERTER_DEFAULT_TIMEZONE_IS_SYSTEM_TIMEZONE context-param to true.
