I have my own personal branch on my home network, it is more tailored to my personal use. But I think your idea of cloning github repository for community use is better.

I use https://gitblit.com, you can see sample online https://dev.gitblit.com, helps me keep the GIT server (with web interfaces) on a USB stick. it also helps to get the diff of different commits for maintenance.

"primefaces plus" looks interesting, can you put a sample case on github...?
