Datatable filtering

Hi all, I was looking for filtering rows on a PM Datatable, but I still didn't have success.
I've tried to code like this:

<p:column headerText="Customer"                                      
  filterBy="#{var.customerId}"
   filterMatchMode="contains">
  <h:outputText value="#{var.customerId}"/>
</p:column>

But it didn't works on PM, I can't get the input filters! what can I use to get filtering on PM?
