what is purpose of layout-content-mask div in app.main.component.html

I am working to add roma to an application. In app.main.component.html there is a div towards the end of the file:

<div class="layout-content-mask"></div>

Can someone tell me what the purpose of this div is? Thanks!

The purpose of this div is to mask the area outside the menu when the menu is opened in mobile view.
