How to copy text from topbar menuitem?

In the Diamond dashboard showcase (https://www.primefaces.org/diamond/) there is a topbar-menu with a notifications-item which opens an overlay panel on click. When I mark text within this overlay panel, the panel disappears after clicking on it so I have to open the panel again to copy the text I just marked.
Question: Is there a way to prevent the panel from closing when i click on it? It seems to closed by default whereever I click.
