Calendar i18n questions

Hello,
I have a question regarding to the supported languages. I saw the supported languages in the documentation. Well, it's enough. But we have en, en_UK, en_US, de, de_CH, ... Do you support countries in the locale? Text can be the same (independent from the country code), but we should ensure that calendar responds correct to language with country code and shows e.g. english messages for en_UK and en_US.
Another question - how and where can we define messages for not supported locales? If we provide these messages will the calendar still work properly or do you need any configurations for missing locales in the component itself?
