As of 2.1, the growl component is "themed" and uses the following CSS to set its background image:

Code: Select all

.ui-widget-header {
background:url("images/sprite.png") repeat-x scroll 0 -200px #D8D8D8;
border:1px solid #AAAAAA;
color:#000000;
font-weight:bold;
}
The problem is that images/sprite.png is a sprite, and so when the div containing the GROWL window grows in HEIGHT, the rest of the sprite begins to show!

Lance, are you using your own custom theme? Or is it a problem with our own themes?

This is using the default theme. To reproduce, simply create a FacesMessage with a long enough detail message to cause the height of the growl window to grow enough to begin showing the rest of the sprite as a background image.

Here, do this:

Copy this text:
sadfasdsadfasdfasdfasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fqsadfasdfasdfasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fassadfasdfasdfasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fqsd fd fasd fqsd fsd ffasdfasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fasd fqsd f
Then paste it into the 'name' field here:

You'll see what I mean in the background of the growl

To confirm, does it happen with other themes or only the default sam skin?

The default theme is the only theme I've found to show button-images from its sprite in the background.

A lot of other themes may not have that exact behavior, but will show some differences in opacity or something in the background image. For example, the Redmond theme will show a white-ish stripe in the center.

I have filed a bug on this already:

We'll be looking at this until the upcoming release, thanks all for your feedback.
