As per 6.2 release notes:
"6.2 is planned for end of year and it will contain the new Spreadsheet component that brings excel like functionality to JSF applications."
Can someone give more details about functionality of that "new Spreadsheet component" ?
I'm particularly interested in the frozen columns and vertical/horizontal scrolling.
My issue with current DataTable is what frozen columns these built as a separate table, so when table is scrolled vertically, rows in frozen and non-frozen parts became misaligned for short period of time, which looks bad visually. We are having complains from customers, but nothing can be done really.
This happens in PF 5.3, and 6.0 on IE and Chrome.
BTW, ExtendedDataTable in RichFaces did not have this side-effect (but it had other issues).
Thank you.

If you need this functionality right now we have written the JSF Sheet: https://github.com/marklcg/jsf-sheet
A JSF Sheet wrapper component around the HandsonTable JS library. You can run a whole demo app for yourself to see the functionality: https://github.com/marklcg/sheetdemo

The component is very good, but it does not allow to create columns of dynamic form only statics.
Let's hope that in PF 6.2 comes out the spreadsheet, because in version 6.1 they had thought to present it and in the roadmap of 6.2 they do not mention anything about the spreadsheet.

PFE Spreadsheet is released and it does allow Dynamic Columns. See this example: https://www.primefaces.org/showcase-ext ... olumns.jsf
