A lot of questions get answered in the forums that then are impossible to find because the search isn't very good (at least in my experience). Words shouldn't be ignored because they are "too common" in a search, for example.
StackOverflow seems to have a faster response time from Cagatay Civici and it is then Google searchable. I think this community forum would have a lot more value if things weren't lost to the ether once they were a few weeks old.
My two cents.
Requesting an Improved Forum Search
I understand that and I am unsure how that is relevant to my statement. I know optimus.prime and darth.maul read this stuff.
As far as the issue, let me give you an example:
Person A comes on an asks a question about an issue with a component.
Person B responds and gives a solution.
Person C comes on and has the same issue as person A, but doesn't know specifically what to look for (e.g. maybe he has an issue with a form and just wants to browse form issues that have been posted); in its current manifestation, the search doesn't serve the function of finding things very well. Something as simple as tags would help and/or a search that actually let you browse paged results.
