DataTable put a Row in EditMode outside the table

Hello,
im using the datatable with editMode="cell" but i want something like rowEditor. i want to select multiply rows and press a button outside the table ( same form) and the selected rows switch to input mode. After editing and pressing a other button switch the selected rows back to output mode. Is there a way? I know i can use < roweditor/> but its only open one at a time and create a extra column or need place in a current column.
