Populate data table column with Ajax Rest API call

Hi,

I have a button with an icon displayed as one of the column of the data table. This button has a property rendered defines which value is based on row item property. However, this row item property is populated via rest api call for each item synchronously.

My idea was to remove this row item property and use javascript in rendered property which just make ajax call to the rest api. It will be asynchronous so the data table will be displayed quicker.

Is it possible?
