Is is possible to put a globalFilter input in a toolbar outside the p:dataTable<> tag?

When I do this, it isn't calling the filter function that is defined in the p:dataTable. Is there another way to do this?

I would think as long as the globalFilter is in the same h:form as the datatable it would work anywhere? Are you saying that is not the case?

Correct, I'm not seeing the globalFilterFunction called if the globalFilter input is outside of the p:dataTable
