Progress Bar Updates Slowly

I have a long running process that runs and periodically updates the progress bar value. The number displayed updates right away, but the bar updates very slowly, sometimes to the point where it only makes it about 25% of the way across while showing 100%.

Is there a best practice for ensuring the progress bar animation keeps up, even if it means I have to somehow give up time slices from my long running process?

But I didn't find this kind of issue with showcase examples. I mean both are in sync(or atleast near millsec)
