Newbie question about Avalon menu

I'm considering purchasing the Avalon theme. As shown in the live demo, when the static menu is collapsed, the menu completely disappears. Is it possible to modify this theme so that when the menu is collapsed, only the icons show (much like the "slim" menu option)? If this is possible, is it a complex task? I'm relatively new to Angular.
