FontAwesome support for PrimeNG

Recently sometime back PrimeNG replaced fontawesome icons with new PrimeIcons. PrimeIcons is recently started and it may take some time to get all the required icons but FA has around 4k icons. If the existing projects which already using FA may break with these changes. Is there any support or workaround to continue FA for sometime?

I believe the font-awesome icons will still work in your projects as long as you (1) keep the "node_modules/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css" style set in .angular-cli.json, and (2) reference all font-awesome icons preceded by the 'fa' designator:
