help switching from modena

Hello,
I have a project already built with Modena and now upgraded to Ultima and have been fighting with it to make it
look even half decent and I can't. My menus are that were on the top are now on the side my dashboard no longer looks like a dashboard.
I can't find any detailed documentation anywhere and the demo site is really nice
but not instructions on how to do anything on it for instance the image menu on the top right or
any other component.
Can you please share some info on how this thing works? thanks
