Thanks everybody for the answers (these boards don't send emails on new posts, do they :) )

We ended up using

Code: Select all

//change the prefix in variables.less
@fa-css-prefix: 'faa'
and then

Code: Select all

lessc font-awesome.less font-awesome.css
It is not ideal, the ideal solution would have been not to have the .fa hijacked but i guess you have no other option.

Thanks again for the help.

My current solution is:

Code: Select all

:not(.ui-widget) > .fa {
  font-family: FontAwesome;
}
after importing _theme.scss

I would like to make a feature request that the font for the .fa class only be set in PrimeNG components in the first place. So that the developer and 3rd party can use FontAwesome freely.

The best solution is to create your own font (e.g. using IcoMoon) with all the Material Icons you need plus additional icons from Font Awesome or other fonts or SVGs, and use that instead of the material icons font of Ultima.
