Active menu item loses it active state, when clicked a second time

When clicking a menu item the first time it changes its UI to active.
But when clicking it again, it loses this state. Another click and it is active again.

Technically the active-menuitem class on the <li> is toggle on click.

This can be reproduced on https://www.primefaces.org/ultima-ng/#/data.
1. click Data
2. hover away to view the state; it is active
3. click Data
4. hover away to view the state; it is NOT active

In Inspector you can see that `active-menuitem` class it added / removed.
