Expand menu on navigation

The menu (app-menu and app-submenu) work great, but when reloading a page the state is not preserved. Same for deep links urls, like https://www.primefaces.org/ultima-ng/#/menus, it does not open the menu.

What is the intended way to make the menu to react on navigation?
