Merging columns in DataTable (colspan)

Hello! Is there possibility to apply something like colspan on DataTable Columns :?: It would be nice to have option to conditionally merge columns.
As far as I've seen currently it is possible only for table headers and even with templates it is hard to achieve for cells themselves, as we don't have access to td elements.
