AutoComplete: autoselect first item

Looking for advice how to implement next feature:
When user start searching for item using autocomplete control (multiselect), the panel with suggestions appears. Is there a way to automatically select first item in the suggested list, so that if user clicks on enter, first item is selected? Currently user need to press arrow down (even if panel is opened on top of the input box) to select first item.
To reproduce:
- open https://www.primefaces.org/primereact/s ... tocomplete
- start typing in 'Multiple' autocomplete
- click enter - nothing happen
- click arrow down and then enter - first item is selected

Any help is really appreciated.
