Data Table: Global filter lags when there are many columns

I am currently using the Data Table component to display data sets which can potentially have many columns (1-200 columns). I have noticed that the global filter struggles to keep up when many columns are being rendered (> 15) . When too many columns are displayed, there is considerable lag between each key press as the table filters itself based on the global filter input.

In the same table I have implemented column toggling (https://www.primefaces.org/primereact/s ... /coltoggle) and the global filter behaves fine when I am only showing between 0 and 15 ish columns.

Is there a way to improve the efficiency of the global filter feature other than reducing the number of columns being displayed?
