Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing the Designer API, but first I'd like to understand how does it integrate with existing layouts

I already own Paradise and Ultima. Can I use the Designer API to create custom themes for them?

You could create custom theme according to your needs.

Paradise and Ultima have their own SASS structure which does more or less the same as Designer but with less variables. Recent themes like Ecuador, Olympia utilize Designer behind the scenes.

Designer is a separate tool that does not depend on a layout, so if you have a layout already I'd suggest Designer, but if you need layout+theme you may consider premium templates.
