What is the difference between using display="both" and display="tooltip" for the p:message component?

Accessing the current PrimeFaces showcase (7.1) gives you 4 display options for the p:message component, but the newest "tooltip" option looks exactly the same as the default option.

What is the difference between the two?

Even though its in the Showcase I don't think there is a "tooltip" display mode.
