DataTable - Programmatically Check Checkbox

So, I have data coming back from an API and hydrating a DataTable. The first field is Liked (a bit; 1 or 0). I want to be able to tie Liked to the first column (checkbox) via the data coming back from the API. Is there a way to toggle the checkbox, selection, from the data? Or is the checkbox only a manually managed item and can't be programmatically set via data?
