How to scroll selected item to top of multi-select

I am using multi-select in a dropdown.
How can I scroll a selected item into the display.
For example, on the multiselect example page http://primefaces.org/primeng/multiselect under Advanced with Templating and Filtering choose Spain. Close the dropdown and then reopen. I want the selected value of Spain to be visible in the dropdown, preferably at the top.

I saw another post where the solution is to sort the selected values to the top. That's workable but not exactly what I am looking for and wanted to see if there was another solution.
