Hi,

We started to use the Timeline component while it still was a core Primefaces component, but thought we should update it to use the primefaces extensions version instead. I was shocked when I saw what had happened to it! What was the design decisions for turning it into something that looks like a spreadsheet? I liked the old one much better, it was sexy, fresh, and gave me a way of presenting historical data in an intuitive way.

Pleeeeeease bring the old timeline back :)

Hey,

the old timeline had a Apache2 incompatible licencse. Therefore PrimeFaces removed it.
Nilesh (from the PrimeFaces Extensions team) implemented an own timeline but he will reimplement the look and feel: http://code.google.com/p/primefaces-ext ... ail?id=121

Hi,

The old timeline script didn't have a proper license. Yes, you're right, the new timeline is not sexy, fresh, ... This was an experimental impl. The timeline will be re-implemented and will be really cool. We're waiting for a confirmation from an author of very cool timeline script. Saidly, but he didn't answer us until now if we can use his script.

Are you talking about the timeline component shown in the links below?

Or are that different extensions?

Actually I would like to use that shown in the second link.

That timeline was removed by primefaces due to incompatible license.

First one was an experimental impl. The timeline will be re-implemented and will be really cool.

Ah ok...thanks for the clarification.

Is there a rough schedule for the first version?

Are there alternative components/extensions I could currently use to sketch the timeline, e.g. draw it "by hand"...in the worst case on a canvas?

We're waiting for a confirmation from an author of very cool timeline script. Once he confirms it will be implemented in short time.

Any news ?

The actual timeline is not very nice, appart from not being really a timeline. It would be very useful as there are not many other jsf timeline components...

That is kinda harsh, timeline in extensions is created by volunteer developers who spent their free time to contribute to open source with no cost to you or your project.
